The Chair Is Care

The Care in the Chair™ Summit, a half-day gathering for beauty professionals during the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation's 2027 Annual Legislative Conference, known as CBC Week, in Washington, DC.

Beauty, Behavioral Health & Community Care

Clients tell their stylists, barbers and estheticians things they tell no one else. This summit is for the pros who hear it. Spend a half-day with DV leaders, fellow pros and the creators of Care in the Chair™, and leave knowing how to respond with care, connect clients to real help, and stay inside your role. Registration details coming soon.

The summit

What you’ll experience

  • A keynote from a domestic violence leader
  • A panel called “The Professionals Who See First,” on what estheticians, barbers and stylists notice in the chair
  • A live, hands-on taste of the Care in the Chair™ training
  • A conversation on where beauty licensing is headed
  • A resource fair with local support organizations

In our pilot, 17 beauty pros participated. From pre-workshop to post-workshop, confidence recognizing DV rose from 2.9 → 4.4 out of 5, and comfort starting a conversation rose from 27% → 77%. After the workshop, 100% said they would recommend the training.
